The update allows for owners to create and edit trailer profiles through the myGMC app and load them into their truck to save time. In addition to this update, owners can share their trailer profile for easy transfer of vehicle specs. The in-vehicle Trailering App includes helpful maintenance reminders and trailer mileage.

The Control Control System allows you to control your trailer before you reach your destination. You have to ability to turn on the trailer’s air conditioning or water heater, check water and holding tank levels, or monitor fuel levels on trailers equipped with generators.

Along with class-leading towing capabilities, the 2020 Sierra 1500
has new available safety features. The available Adaptive Cruise Control Camera helps maintain a safe distance between the driver and vehicles ahead by automatically adjusting speed while using cruise control.

The 2020 Sierra 1500’s 8-inch GMC Infotainment system is now be able to support the SiriusXM All Access Package, which would be capable of supporting SiriusXM with 360L2 when equipped; this package includes more channels and choices than ever before.

The 2019 Sierra 1500s had multiple engine options; although, it wasn’t until later in the year that they started offering a diesel engine. The all-new 2020 Sierra 1500 models will offer a year-round 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel engine. The CarbonPro Editions package now includes the 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel engine, which was previously only available with the 6.2L V8 engine.

The 3.0L Duramax inline-six turbo-diesel engine is now paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission; this combination will bring class-leading, SAE-certified 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. The 10-speed automatic transmission is also now paired with the 5.3L V-8 with Dynamic Fuel Management. This pairing will come standard on the Sierra Denali, Sierra AT4, and is available on all four-wheel drive Sierras with the SLE trim level and above.

Continued Excellence

The 2019 Sierra 1500 offered advanced technologies that the 2020 Sierra 1500 will continue to provide for a premium driving experience. The 2020 Sierra will continue to offer the World’s First MultiPro Tailgate, CarbonPro Pickup Box, Multi-Color Head-Up Display, and Rear Camera Mirror. The World’s First MultiPro Tailgate is the most premium tailgate on the market, offering six multifunctional configurations.

  1. Primary Gate

Functions as any other single-function tailgate, but can be released by the key fob or push of a button on the tailgate itself.

  2. Primary Gate Load Stop

Prevents long items from sliding out of the bed.

  3. Easy Access

Allows you to access 7-9” closer to the back of the bed.

  4. Full-Width Step

Eases access into the bed, by providing a step and hand grab.

  5. Inner Gate Load Stop

Prevents long items from sliding out of the bed with a two-tier loading design.

  6. Inner Gate Work Surface

Provides a comfortable height work surface, in-bed 120-volt electrical outlet, and lights when working on projects.

The CarbonPro Pickup Box is the industry’s first carbon fiber pickup box. This first-ever pickup box is strength, durability, scratch, and corrosion resistance. As durable as this bed is, it is shockingly 25% less weight than a traditional steel bed. The CarbonPro enables best-in-class cargo volume and allow more functionality for anything you need to haul. The best part is that GMC continues to offer the CarbonPro on the 2020 Sierra 1500 lineup.

The Multi-Color Head-Up Display is also being carried over to the 2020 Sierra lineup and we couldn’t be happier. The Multi-Color Head-Up Display projects key information onto the windshield such as: speed, tachometer, audio, phone, available navigation, forward collision alert, lane departure warning, cruise control, low fuel, and off-road inclinometer. This carry-over feature will help keep you more aware and informed to give you a better peace of mind driving experience.

Finally, the Rear Camera Mirror will be carried over from the 2019 Sierra lineup to the 2020 Sierra lineup. This feature offers a more clear image of what is behind you while driving, to better help keep you aware of your surroundings while driving the 2020 Sierra 1500.

The 2020 Sierra 1500’s improved towing capabilities, all-new technology advancements, more capable performance, and eye-catching appearance make it stand out from previous Sierra lineups and other brand lineups.
