There are all different types of drivers on the road, from brand new drivers to the elderly. Not only are there different types of drivers, but road conditions can change in a heartbeat. No matter the situation, it is important to be as safe as possible while driving. Buick understands this and now offers safety features on select models. Whether you’re considering the 2020 Buick Encore or 2020 Buick Envision, Buick’s safety features help protect you and your loved ones.
Front Pedestrian Braking
Even if you’re the best driver around, you can’t predict the future. The Front Pedestrian Braking keeps you one step ahead with front sensors, which can detect if a pedestrian is directly in front of you. Once detected, the Buick will apply the brakes itself and notify you of the imminent collision. You will be notified by a red light on your dashboard and loud beeping to catch your attention.
Forward Collision Alert
The Forward Collision Alert works similarly to the Front Pedestrian Braking with audio and visual alerts notifying you if a vehicle collision is imminent. It will also apply the brakes if you have not done so already. It even detects if you’re following the vehicle ahead of you too closely to help avoid an accident.
Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert
The Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert helps avoid vehicles detected in your side blind zone. This safety feature can detect if a vehicle behind you is rapidly approaching your side blind zone while changing lanes. The alerts appear as a yellow light on the side mirrors of your Buick.
Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
While driving a 2020 Buick Encore or almost any other Buick, the Lane Keep Assist prevents you from drifting out of your lane. Once this safety feature detects that you are about to drift out of your lane, an automatic gentle turn of the steering wheel will be applied. The Lane Keep Assist will only be activated if you are not actively steering the wheel or if your turn signal is on. If needed, the Lane Departure Warning will be activated to better help you avoid unintentionally drifting out of the lane you are in.
Rear Cross Traffic Alert
While in Reverse, Buick knows it can be difficult to detect imminent collisions especially in crowded parking spaces or your driveway. To help with this, the Rear Cross Traffic Alert can detect rear right or left cross traffic. When in Reverse, your Buick’s backup camera is activated and if there is cross traffic, the Rear Cross Traffic Alert will also appear on the Buick Infotainment System.
Advanced Safety Systems
Along with safety features, Buicks have available safety systems to help boost your confidence while driving.
Parents everywhere get nervous and uneasy when their child begins to drive. It’s stressful to figure out which vehicle to get your teenager, liability insurance, and signing them up for driving school. On top of all of that, there is a lingering fear about how they’ll drive when you’re not around.
Buick helps settle those nerves with the Teen Driver safety feature to assist in coaching them on how to drive. This feature allows you to set a speed alert and an audio volume limit. It even offers an in-vehicle report card to track their driving skills. The Teen Driver feature can be activated even if you’re not there.
Safety Alert Seat
The drive will be notified that collision-avoidance safety features are active by the seat gently pulsating. Depending on which side the collision is imminent, that side of the front seat cushion will gently vibrate or the whole seat will pulsate for specific types of alerts.
The 2020 Buick Enclave and many other models have available OnStar. Sometimes accidents happen and there’s nothing you can do; thankfully, OnStar is there to help get you the assistance you need from emergency responders.
Innovative safety features are available on many Buick models, making Buicks one of the safest SUVs on the road. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration rated the 2020 Buick Envision, 2020 Buick Encore, and 2020 Buick Enclave each a five-star safety rating. Whether you’re carpooling or letting your teenager driver your Buick, you can have peace-of-mind knowing that they are safe.
