As previously mentioned, the 2500HD comes standard with a powerful 6.6L V8 engine capable of producing 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and can take over two tons of cargo in the bed and haul up to 21,130 pounds. The available 6.6L TurboDiesel V8 offers a whopping 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque for a towing capacity of up to 35,000 pounds and a maximum payload capacity of almost 7,500 pounds! The Duramax TurboDiesel engine is mated to an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission for smooth shifting and even torque distribution.
